In a bid to strengthen the sector's contribution to regional economic growth, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) has urged African governments to improve aviation safety, reduce taxes and charges, and resolve the issue of blocked airline funds. The industry already supports 8.1 million jobs and contributes USD 75 billion to the region's GDP.
